First class checklist

So you’ve just booked your first pilates class, what’s next? Read below to learn how to prepare, and what to expect when you walk through the doors at Hello Pilates.

01 Nervous? Know that it’s natural!

If you’ve never done pilates before, you might be both nervous and excited for your first class. Firstly, it might help to remember every one of our members was once a beginner, and furthermore, you’re probably not the only beginner in your class! As a beginner-friendly studio we’re committed to teaching the ropes, and please know we’ll be giving you all the TLC you need for your first class.

02 Bring your essentials

For your first reformer pilates class please bring your water bottle and gym towel. Everything else is supplied at the studio, and we also have a water tap to refill your bottle if you run out. We also have showers, storage cupboards for your belongings, and toilets on site.

03 Wear comfy clothes

Wondering what to wear? Wear something you can move freely and feel most comfortable in. Whether it’s a brand new crop or an old t-shirt, we don’t care. If you feel good, that’s good. With that said, we do recommend wearing grip socks, which are little ankle socks that help avoid slipping on the reformer. We sell them in studio for $15.95 if you want to pick up a pair before class.

04 Please arrive early!

Please please please arrive early, especially if it’s your first class! Allow 10 minutes prior so we can introduce ourselves and get to know you. We’ll also use this time to introduce you to the reformer, and give you a run down of basic safety skills, as well as learn about your goals and any injuries you have.

05 Read the cancellation policy

To keep things fair for our members and those on class waitlists (see point 5), we have a 6-hour minimum cancellation window. If you cancel your class within 6 hours of your class start time, you will not receive a refund. If you cancel your class more than 6 hours prior, you will receive a full refund! See our cancellation policy page for more info.

06 Class waitlists: how does it work?

When classes are booked out you can join the class waitlist. When you join the waitlist, you will automatically be put into the class if an existing attendee cancels. When multiple people join the waitlist you will join a queue, in which case it's first-come-first-served.

Cancellations are frequent, and our system will automatically include you in a class if space opens up as close as 45-minutes before class, so it's best to only join the waitlist if you're committed to the class time. Do not join the waitlist if you can't make the class!
